Addiction is not a one-size- fits-all. It affects everyone regardless of education, social class, and gender. For women, however, addiction often carries an even greater stigma. Women who battle substance abuse are under even more scrutiny and judgment as mothers, spouses, and daughters. At Malibu Beach Recovery Center, we know that addiction is a disease of the brain, and it does not allow room for choice. Women often come to rehabilitation with immense feelings of toxic shame, guilt, and brokenness for the wreckage that addiction has caused in their lives, their closest relationships and their jobs. It’s important for every woman to understand that she is not her addiction and there is nothing to be ashamed of. We are all human.
Women often come to recovery facing addiction, PTSD, trauma, anxiety, depression, domestic violence, abuse, sexual trauma, or other co-occurring conditions. At Malibu Beach Recovery Center, we want every woman to know that she is not alone in her journey. We empower women to separate themselves from their addiction, and rebuild self-worth, self-love, and hope from the ground-up. There is hope for every woman to overcome addiction, achieve sobriety, and transform her life.
