Real Benefits to Gender-Specific Addiction Treatment
Taking gender into consideration makes a big difference when it comes to recovery success
At Malibu Beach Recovery Center we’ve long believed that gender-sensitive recovery programs can help not only with finding sobriety, but also maintaining it. In fact, it’s been our experience that addicts who choose to enter one of our gender-sensitive programs gain skills and insights that lead to greater ease rebuilding their lives once they leave treatment.
Now this belief is being proven, thanks to research funded by the National Institute on Drug Abuse. Here’s a quote:
Women who receive treatment in gender-sensitive programs are more likely to be employed 12 months after treatment admission than women in more traditional treatment programs, according to research funded by NIDA. Additionally, women who complete treatment have greater odds of being employed than women not completing treatment. The study analyzed data from 5,109 women admitted to 13 mixed-gender intensive inpatient programs in Washington State.
Considering finding employment is one of the major hurdles that face newly sober addicts, this truly is a powerful statistic. We look forward to new findings from NIDA, as well as from our own team of professionals here at Malibu Beach Recovery Center, that will help us improve the results of our gender-specific programs even further!
