Thumbnail image for Thumbnail image for Cookbook_Cover 08252013.jpgPerfect for friends and family members trying to get into recovery from addiction to drugs and alcohol, or trying to maintain their recovery, “Dopamine for Dinner”, the acclaimed cookbook will be available at a 50 percent discount through the end of January on Amazon.com (discount code: mbrc2015).

The Malibu Beach Recovery Center became famous for its effective treatment system that includes a unique holistic overlay: several hours a day of Kurma Yoga, use of an over-the- counter food supplement called Synaptagenx which was designed to raise and sustain dopamine levels, and a French low glycemic diet.  Every day our clients are fed mouth-watering food by a team of executuve chefs.

As co-founder of the Center, I witnessed the positive impact eating healthy had on the physicial and emotional well-being of our clients.

If you suffer from diabetes, hypertension or high cholesterol, your medical professional will tell you that if you change your diet and exercise program you can change the numbers. Addiction, considered by scientists to be a chronic brain disease, can be put into remission by adopting a healthy life style. combined with individual and group therapy, and for most involvement in a Twelve Step Program.

I wrote this cookbook together with Chefs Sergio Galvao, Johnnie Handal, Licia Jaccard and Yannick Marchand for our alumni and their families.  Each of the chefs contributed one week of meal plans and accompanying simple but elegant recipes based on the Malibu Beach Recovery Diet.

The reviews from alumni, their families, addiction professionals, and professional chefs have been gratifying, as has the attention our cookbook received from mainstream book retailers.  We are proud to announce that a version for the general public will become available in brick and mortar bookstores around April 1, 2015. Please feel free to share this offer, and have a sober holiday season.

Bon Appetit,

Joan Borsten
