Dr. Laura LaPiana, Independently Affiliated Clinical Psychologist
Laura LaPiana, Psy.D. is a Clinical Psychologist in private practice in Calabasas, California. With a background in Marriage, Family, Child Therapy Dr. LaPiana began working with families in addiction in a community setting. A desire to understand the more intricate and complex components of human behavior propelled Dr. LaPiana to pursue a doctorate from California School of Professional Psychology and a Certificate in Psychoanalysis from Wright Institute Los Angeles. Clinical settings within which Dr. LaPiana has experience includes hospitals, residential, day- treatment, public schools and colleges, and county facilities. Dr. LaPiana also helped run a drug and alcohol treatment facility in Malibu, California as the Clinical Director with clinical responsibilities including program development, case management, supervision of interns and psychoeducation groups.
Today, Dr. LaPiana treats individual patients with a broad range of presenting problems and specializes in Addiction and compulsive behaviors including over-eating and internet addiction. With 18 years of experience working with addicts and their families Dr. LaPiana brings a seasoned approach and a comprehensive understanding of the multiple components of addiction, relapse prevention, family dynamics and long-term recovery to her work.
With a certification in Nutrition from Cornell University Dr. LaPiana is also able to address the nutritional components of mood and behavior and assist people in making relevant changes in overall self-care practices.
